Osteopathy (and certainly Acupuncture) can treat a wide range of conditions - certainly far more than just muscle and joint pain. When asked if Osteopathy and Acupuncture can help with perhaps seemingly unrelated conditions (e.g. stress, sleep, energy levels, digestion, etc) many people find that it does.
General Health is very important, and in Osteopathy and Acupuncture (in fact, all traditional medicines) we treat the person, not just the condition or the symptoms. Perhaps it is a characteristic of modern Western pharmaceutical medicine that the same drug is given to millions of people - treating a 'condition' that is similar for everyone who suffers from that supposedly same condition. In fact, once could say that the strength (and also it's weakness) of modern, Western, Pharmaceutical medicine is just this. Its seeming 'mass-production', to treat many people.
But traditional medicine, and this could certainly include Osteopathy (for massage and manual medicine has a long history - and Osteopathy is a modern form of this) and Acupuncture, is not like this. An Osteopathy or Acupuncture treatment is 'tailor-made' just for you, for the individual patient. And the treatment may also vary from week to week.
People with supposedly the same 'condition' (as diagnosed in Western medicine) may be very different - and a different approach is needed.
We may also think in terms of 'constitutional treatment' for an individual, you as an individual person, in addition to addressing whatever current symptoms you may have.
So we understand if you might have questions - and want to know if Osteopathy and Acupuncture (and Naturopathy and Herbs) can help you.
Many people may not have been to see an Osteopath or Acupuncturist before.
My own approach (having lived and studied for many years in London) and having studied different disciplines (Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Qigong, Naturopathy, etc) may be to use different things in combination. Whatever works, whatever is best for a certain individual.
Andrew Taylor Still (the founder of Osteopathy, in the USA in the middle and late nineteenth century) once described Osteopathy as ". . . what works". I think this is a good definition, and an eminently practical one. After all, Osteopathy is a practical subject - 'hands on', empirical.
So please forgive me if I have been to general, to generic, in discussing these things. Of course, you will have specific questions just for you, for your own condition, from your own history. And I understand this, and why this is important to you.
Please book a time from a 15 minute free consultation. At that time, you may phone 021 043 6282, or the land-line 03 980 2425

(this way you will not interrupt another patient's treatment time). Of course, there are limitations in what can be ascertained over the phone
(for example a full Osteopathic and musculoskeletal evaluation, and Acupuncture diagnosis would be better) but at least this will give you some idea.
Please feel free to also read the Osteopathy and Acupuncture pages, if you haven't already done so, as there is information there that you may find helpful.
You do not need to book a 15 minute appointment if you want to discuss Massage Therapy.
For this, please phone Karen on 022 571 0118, or 03 980 2425
