Mindfulness for Health: Guided mindfulness meditations

Chapters

Introduction - Bodyscan - Mindfulness of Breathing - Positive Emotion

Introduction

These Guided mindfulness meditations are given here to be downloaded and played on your computer, tablet or smart-phone. As they can induce relaxation — please do not listen to these while you are driving, operating machinery, or in any situation where you need to be alert. These are situations were we can also be, and must be ‘mindful’, yet our attention is directed ‘outwardly’ towards the activity we are engaged in (e.g. driving). A very good opportunity in itself to practice being mindful and completely present in what we are doing.

The Guided mindfulness meditations here, either audio or with video, are to engage with the practice of mindfulness ‘internally’ within our own physical (and emotional) experience. And so to begin with, the Bodyscan practice is presented first. This meditation can be practiced lying down, or sitting. It can also be practiced by anyone in poor health or suffering from physical pain.

“Without the bitterest cold that penetrates to the very bone
how can plum blossoms send forth their fragrance all over the universe?”
